Summary
FFI partnered with UNICEF East and Southern Africa, the Tanzania Food Fortification Alliance (TFFA), and Sanku–Project Healthy Children to plan a national Training of Trainers (ToT) program aimed at strengthening Tanzania’s food fortification program. The planning mission brought together government agencies, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to develop a shared approach for building national capacity as Tanzania prepares to implement updated food fortification regulations.
During the mission, FFI met with key partners to finalize the training agenda, participant selection, and implementation strategy, with an emphasis on equipping government regulators, laboratories, industry representatives, and nutrition professionals to train others across the country. The discussions also reinforced the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to strengthen quality assurance, regulatory monitoring, and compliance, supporting Tanzania’s efforts to expand effective food fortification and reduce micronutrient deficiencies.
