Strengthening N4G Commitments for Food Fortification in Africa

Summary:
Following the success of the April 2024 LSFF Practitioner Convening in Cape Town, South Africa, where over 250 experts identified key barriers and solutions to accelerate large-scale food fortification (LSFF), the Micronutrient Data Innovation Alliance (DInA)/Micronutrient Forum, along with global, regional, and national LSFF partners—including the Food Fortification Initiative (FFI) as a co-sponsor—hosted an Africa regional webinar consisting of representatives from government, NGOs, private sector, and other key stakeholders.
This webinar aimed to:
Engage stakeholders in identifying priority areas for investment and action in LSFF
Provide guidance on translating the LSFF Commitment Guide into practical, measurable steps
Align stakeholders on SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) commitments for LSFF
Foster collaborations and partnerships to drive long-term success in fortification programs
Jessie Genoway, FFI Communications Director, spoke alongside Kristin Sundell from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) about resources to support food fortification advocacy and LSFF commitments, including the Food Fortification Advocacy Toolkit and the Global Fortification Data Exchange.
