Summary
Hosted by the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF), the conference brought together academic scientists, researchers, and professionals to exchange and share their experiences, research results, and best practices on all aspects of spina bifida and hydrocephalus. It also provided an interdisciplinary platform for presentation and discussion of recent innovations, concerns, practical challenges encountered, and solutions with the goal of improving the quality of life of people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and their families, and to reducing the prevalence of neural tube defects.
At the conference, FFI presented large-scale food fortification as a safe, effective, cost-efficient, and high-impact strategy to prevent neural tube defects as well as its work in Africa through the Smarter Futures program.
